Why Sustainability Matters in Print and Marketing

At Precision, sustainability is more than just a responsibility—it’s part of our DNA. Precision was an early adopter of a more sustainable business model. We’ve embedded it into our values, our decision-making, and our day-to-day operations. Environmental responsibility is not a bolt-on for us—it sits at the heart of our operations, shaping our culture and our long-term business vision. It sits within our core values that we measure, report and reduce the environmental impact of our business.

Tracking Emissions: From Baseline to Real Reductions

Since our Baseline Year in 2020, we have measured our carbon emissions against Scopes 1 & 2, alongside some limited Scope 3 measurements. This detailed reporting gives us a clear and honest picture of our environmental footprint and forms the basis of our decarbonisation strategy. This year we have extended our Scope 3 measurements to include Purchased Goods and Services to meet the standards of Public Procurement Notice (PPN) 06/21, reinforcing our commitment to both regulatory compliance and climate action.

Tangible Progress: What We’ve Achieved So Far

Through the introduction of measures such as rooftop solar panels, low-energy LED lighting, and air source heat pump systems, we have reduced our combined Scope 1 & 2 operational emissions by an impressive 55% since 2020. These investments are not just environmental—they’re operational too, creating a more resilient, efficient business for our clients and team alike.

There’s still a residual 37 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent (tCO₂e) which we are actively driving down as part of our Net Zero challenge. Our goal remains clear: to eliminate what we can, and to responsibly offset what we currently cannot.

Introducing Our New Carbon-Balancing Partnership

So we are proudly announcing a new partnership: from May 2025, Precision will mitigate our Scope 1 & 2 emissions via the globally respected World Land Trust carbon balancing scheme, provided by CarbonCo. This marks a significant milestone on our Net Zero journey—one that complements our ongoing emissions reduction initiatives.

Why CarbonCo and World Land Trust?

The Carbon Balanced Paper and Print programme, delivered by CarbonCo in partnership with World Land Trust, protects carbon-rich habitats in some of the most biologically diverse—and threatened—regions in the world. Through reforestation and forest preservation, this initiative balances emissions while supporting endangered wildlife and local communities.

What This Means for Our Clients and Our Planet

Our World Land Trust Carbon Balanced Certification is just one part of our wider strategy to reduce our environmental impact. It enables us to offer our clients sustainable marketing and print solutions, backed by independently verified carbon balancing. It complements our ongoing work to reduce emissions at source and demonstrates our leadership in responsible print and marketing.

As a Carbon Balanced Printer, we now offer clients the option to use Carbon Balanced Paper and Carbon Balanced Print materials, complete with World Land Trust certification. This not only helps reduce your carbon impact but also visibly supports your organisation’s sustainability and ESG goals.

If you’re looking to align your print campaigns with your environmental values, this is one simple but powerful way to do it.
